At first glance Sony’s new RX100 looks to be a seriously overpriced P&S that got swept up in the marketing gimmick of more mega pixels is more better (bad grammar intentional).  When you look a bit closer and realize that the 20MP is achieved on a 1″ sensor, significantly larger than current pocket-able cameras, you have a much more interesting camera on your hands.    I think for most it will come down to whether they want simple to operate, no thinking about switching lenses camera that can actually fit in their pocket.   The nearest competitors are the Canon S100 ($375) with a much smaller sensor or the Canon G1x ($790) with a larger sensor but not easily pocketable, unless you are the baggy cargo pants wearing kinda person.

Friday we head to Glacier National Park for a week of photography - I am excited to teach in this beautiful park. The park is packed with towering peaks, glacial carved valleys, and loads of gorgeous streams and waterfalls. I will be using this travel to test some gear. What in the box are you most interested in? What piece of gear would you love to see reviewed at
