A “cheap” Full Frame camera from Nikon? Rumors of the D600
Reports that the D600 will be announced around September 13, which would be just a few days before Photokina begins(Big camera show in Germany). The D600 is expected to retail for half of the cost of the D800 (which presently sells for $2999.99), Nikon’s current full-frame, semi-pro DSLR. This means we will have a a full frame camera on the market for $1500? That sounds a bit too good to be true but even close to that is impressive. The excellent 5D Mark II is now about $2000, used closer to $1799
- 24.6 MP Full Frame (FX),
- 39-point autofocus system,
- ISO sensitivity up to 25,600
- 30fps 1080p HD video capability.
Why all the hubbub about full Frame? My Thoughts coming soon – In general the larger the sensor the better low light capabilities and the greater detail you can capture. Everyone certainly doesn’t need full frame – Less than full frame sensors are perfectly capable of capturing gorgeous images but it is exciting to see the prices fall and competition heat up in this sector – the consumer wins!
