#mondaymorningshare - Were you trying to impress the ladies this week like this green winged teal? Visit photorec.tv/fb to share your favorite photo from the last week and check out all the submissions! It's a great way to get your work seen! * Captured with the Sigma 150-600 C as I wrap up my comparison vs the Tamron 150-600
Deal Alert - http://photorec.tv/80dsale This is an unofficial price drop and probably won't last long! I am working on a video right now about why the 80D #dslr is still my pick for best all around camera at this price point and still a better pick versus the new #canon #77D. The owl photo I posted a few days ago was captured with the #80D at ISO 5000
Another from last weekend's #owlstravaganza (I am so glad that hashtag exists) I hope to head back here this weekend with my kids to see these Short-eared Owls hanging out and as I mentioned earlier it is a great testing ground for my Sigma 150-600 vs Tamron 150-600 G2 comparison I am working on. * Captured with the Canon 80D and #tamron #150600g2 ISO 5000 (it was darker than it looks)

  1. Can the dual slot on this amera be used to save photos sequentially? I mean one card saves all the odd photos (first, third, fith, etc), and the other card in the slot saves all of the even numbers in the sequence of photos being taken? If it can be done, does it speed up the the process?

  2. This is a GREAT test!!! I’ve never seen anybody do this. Thank you!! I just got the D7100 too.
I always go for the “Class 10” card, but until now, I never really paid attention to the Read/Write speed. THANK YOU, again!! …Of course, that might not justify the price break for me, but, this is really great information. Great job!!
    Suggestion/Question
In the 10 seconds, the cards seem to take a different number of shots before it buffers (hesitates). If you would add that to your test (spread sheet), that might be very interesting too. Is the buffering relative to the speed? …and by how much?

  3. Great, great useful test. Thank you very much. Not sure yet if I will get the Extreme Pro or the Extreme.

One final test would be with the fatest card the different RAW modes to check if the camera can keep on the 6 frames per second pace for more than 1 second :
    – RAW 14bit/lossless/Crop mdoe
    – RAW 14bit/compression/Crop mode
    – RAW 12bit/lossless/Full frame
    – RAW 12bit/lossless/Crop
    etc.

    • I was only renting the camera and no longer have it. It will be awhile before I get a chance to test again but my recollection is every change does increase the rate slightly. Shooting at crop and 12 bit lossey does give you better results.

      Thanks,
      Tobias

  4. it is very interesting, thanks

If I could you suggest a complementary test, it would be very interesting to see the behaviour of the buffer in crop 1.3x mode in raw mode. The amount of data to be traited should be lighter and It is would be interesting to see it.
My hope is that the rythm of burst is a little higher after the bugger goes to full.

    regards

    • It is a little higher, I believe I covered that in the very last test on the camera? I was only renting the camera and no longer have it. It will be awhile before I get a chance to test again.

      Thanks,
      t
