The Golden Hour Instagram Challenge was a chance to shoot during the best time of the day. A callback from Toby’s Time of Day & Quality of Light video. Great landscapes and amazing portraits were something special this week and came out great with that golden light.

You can find all the past challenges on the PRTV page along with next week’s Instagram challenge #PRTV_thankfulHere in the US it’s Turkey Time; family, food, friends, and the fall weather makes it a good time to reflect on what you’re thankful for in your life. So with the holidays in spirit we want you to think a bit out of the box and post what you’re thankful for this year.

To enter post your photos on Instagram before noon next Friday with the tags #PRTV and #PRTV_thankful.

Fantastic shot – love that you choose to capture these horses backlit – the warm sun perfectly outlines their bodies, catching all that hair.

Toby’s Honorable Mentions:

178/366 Time slowly goes away, but its not about the amount of time rather the qaulity of the time #prtv_goldenhr

The warm tones, the sharp glass – it is all a lovely contrast and capture.

Love the leading line of the waves, the misty/haze of the distance and everything is bathed in warm light.

Aidan’s shot focuses on quality of light with a nice golden bokeh from the light hitting the leaves in the background. The soft lighting makes the glass exposed well and focuses on the sand grains falling. Nice shot!

Roy’s Honorable Mentions:

Golden hour is the best chance to shoot portraits in soft warm light without faking the shot or using a lightsource. Shooting under a overhang made for a nice touch as you can control the light and it give the background a nice repeating pattern.

Joe’s landscape nails golden hour on it’s head freezing the action with a nice warm glow to the shot. Cutting off the sun partially and catching the wave coming in made for nice touches to a great photo.

Evening in Bol on the island of Brač, off the coast of Split. One of our last nights in Croatia - looking forward to a return to this beautiful country. Panasonic #GH5 12-60 lens 3 second exposure.
Way back in March we spent a few nights at the awesome #aurorabear yurt run by @frankstelges If you want to hang out at the coolest yurt while watching #auroraborealis reach out to him!! While waiting for the aurora to show up I ran the 80D in time-lapse mode and then stacked it all in #starstax which answers the question - what's it look like when you shoot the stars AND the full moon and StarStax it all. Captured with the #Canon #80D and 24mm f/2.8 lens. (Note - the 80D ran for 3 hours in near zero temps on one battery!)
Left to Right - Mahtotopa Mountain(8,671 ft), Little Chief Mountain (9,514 ft), Citadel Mountain (9,035 ft) - as seen from Going-To-The-Sun Point #GlacierNP is awesome even if #loganpass is closed! I could tell you when it will open but we were sworn to secrecy :) #mckaylive
