Whether in the city or in the country this week’s goal was to get out for some photos either by a bit of street photography or nature. This week get your explorer on and get some neat shots of some of the more abandoned parts of your area. This was a highly requested subject, so for those that asked, now it's your shot!

When you need more light, you make it! Slowing your shutter speed down just a bit can be a great tool for showing motion, a bit more for blurry waterfalls. At the longest times letting enough light in to catch a milky way and stars.

• A clever idea and the black and white almost gives it a metallic effect with that more contrasted side lighting.

• Just a great portrait with nice even lighting that looks great!

• While I’d suggest a colored gel next time this is a nice go at balancing out a flash with the ambient lighting of a sunset.

With May 4th as the official star wars holiday did you go for the light or slip to the dark side? While the theme might be a bit silly it’s all about thinking about the color in your images and how it affects the photos. We’ve got a few neat shots this week and certainly, some that stand out for thinking outside the box.Next Week's Challenge: #PRTV_flash2Next week you need to flash your subject. It’s a lighting challenge so you need to add a bit of artificial lighting to your subject whether it’s from a cheap flashlight or an expensive strobe.

With spring finally making an appearance it was a great time to get out for some of that golden hour light. While that does include sunsets it's nice to see so many of you thinking out of the box. This is going to be a good challenge for flash photography!

Happy Earth Day and National Parks Week! Spring is going strong and you guys got out for some really great photos! Parks are a great location to go shoot a variety of subjects but still close that it's not necessarily out of the way, bar going to Yosemite. Next Week's Challenge: #PRTV_goldenhour3Soft and warm light can make for great shots and that’s gonna be what you are looking for in the golden hour challenge. Remember that it's a focus on the light so your subject can be anything you'd like to try shooting.

Orange and blue - love the abstract but bright details in the soap bubbles.

Complementary Colors - - - I kid you not, this is what happens when you mix dish soap with water and a few drops of glycerin and stretch it over a wire loop. Every time I dipped the wire into the solution, the color pattern was predominantly blue on the bottom and orange on the top, sprinkled with a bit of the rest of the rainbow in between. The patterns that the solution made were different every time, kind of like a fingerprint. Using some gels for a self-portrait really works well for this challenge. 

A new selfportrait from a test shoot using my new toy (d750) 😁 I'm still figuring out the right balance for the face detection function and the aperture setting. First time I've ever entered any sort of photo challenge, YouTuber and photographer @photorectoby is running a portrait challenge and I couldn't resist. As it's near Christmas I thought I'd submit this one taken on my old 700d with the cheapo 50mm 1.8 last year. This is a great portrait but I love the prop! Giving your subject something to interact with in a photo gives your eyes something to track and makes for a interesting subject.

Water drops and soft petals of this succulent make for a neat photo.

Simply Succulent My second entry for this week’s photo challenge “texture” - I just love how different the world looks through a macro lens. This was an ugly little neglected succulent that I came across - but with a macro lens only it’s beauty shines through. I didn’t even notice the water drops on the plant until I looked at my LCD screen in review mode - an added bonus! Anyway, this was taken in my home office/playroom, with a black muslin backdrop, soft box to camera right, reflector on left. Edited in LR and PS where I added a gradient map and linear gradients to add blue tones, a texture background overlay to roughen it up a bit, and some creepy voodoo font text. Costume and both voodoo dolls were made by....ME! . . . .
