As we began to ascend the trail, the quiet sound of spring snow pattered through the trees slowly catching up to us. The temperature dropped ever so quickly below freezing, although our bodies remained warm from the strain of carrying our large packs. Photojournalism takes a hard view on life and sometimes as a race we have to look at how we treat the poor and neglected parts of our society, even if they are from a zoo

Tigers pace around in their pens waiting to be fed as locals look on @cattyshackranch The image here seems a bit sad, seeing big cats like this in cages, but this place is not a zoo. The Catty Shack is a sanctuary. These animals are not bought, sold or traded. They're often rescues, or taking in from zoos take a no longer care for them.
